What it does

Who is it for?

Byfleet United Charity is restricted to helping those who have lived in Byfleet or West Byfleet for at least one year immediately prior to their application and that there is evidence of ‘need’.

What help is available?

Grants – Assistance to individuals/households to purchase goods or services, which are needed to reduce hardship or distress. Recent help has included; clothing; children’s and disabled person’s equipment, community furniture stores vouchers, mobility aids and white goods. We are also able to offer food vouchers to use at Addlestone or Woking Food Banks.

Short Term Support – Monthly payments to individuals of working age and who have lived in the community for over 1 year. This provision is subject to regular reviews.

‘Pensions’ – Allowance paid monthly to those who are above State Retirement age and have been living in the community for over 1 year. This provision is subject to regular reviews.

Carelines – Emergency call system. The Charity funds a number of Carelines for individuals who wish to remain living independently in their own homes but who need the reassurance that an emergency call/alarm system offers.

How can I apply for help?

We welcome both self-referrals and Professional referrals using our referral form. Completed application forms can be either emailed to our offices or posted.

A home visit by the Grants Manager will be arranged. A home visit is essential in order to ascertain each applicant’s situation and need.

Applicants will need to show that they have sought appropriate support e.g. Housing Benefit, welfare benefits and suchlike. Evidence of income/expenditure is required to assess suitability for charity assistance.

Awards/Grants and all offers of assistance are made at the Trustee’s discretion.
